a.The image above is an original tattoo idea for a friend that symbolises the surf culture on the eastern coast. The drawing intends to portray to the viewer the grip the beach has on him specifically enforced through allusions to sea folklore, such as the Kraken and Poseidon's trident. The skeletal shakkas is also a prominent symbol among surf culture.

The great piece of architecture I have chosen to include in my blog is the Neue Staatsgallerie by James Stirling in Stuttgart. I studied this building intimately in BENV 1080 and came to appreciate Stirlings unique application of geometry, material and colour to create an iconic, monumental structure that was developed as an add-on to the previously existing Alte Staatsgallerie. Another interesting aspect of the building is the way Stirling has seamlessly integrated the building within its urban context by allowing public access via a public walkway that cuts through the building. This opened the Staatsgalerie up to the entire population, where are traditionally museums were more exclusive in its occupants.

The above photo was taken of the sunset over the small coastal town of Crescent Head on the roof of a holiday house I was staying at over summer with a couple friends.
